ABOUT

The core mandate of the Finance Department is to facilitate, account and mobilise funds for various Council’s activities such as developmental projects. This is done through the sections that make up the department, that is:


EXPENDITURE

Expenses in line with the Council budget and other programmes are made in the Expenditure section in order to facilitate for the operations of the Council.


ACCOUNTANCY

Preparations of budget estimates in order to facilitate mobilisation and disbursement of financial resources are done in this section.

It prepares financial and management reports to facilitate decision making.


REVENUE

This section is responsible for collecting all revenue due to the Council in order to finance its operations. The types of revenue are as follows:

COMMERCIAL VENTURE

The section undertakes investments in order to broaden the Council’s revenue base.


STORES

This section manages efficiently the stores management systems in order to maintain optimal stock levels.

 It provides technical support in the storage

and distribution of goods in order to ensure smooth operations of the Council.

 It is responsible for making sure that all goods purchased are received and issued to user departments.


ESTABLISHMENT

This section prepares the payroll for Council staff and Councilors.


VALUATION

It guides on the taxation of land, buildings, plant and machinery for rates purposes.

Ultimately, it guides the Council on the procurement and management of tangible assets.
