CHINSALI (1st April, 2026): A total of 12,722 residents of Chinsali are set to benefit from the Revised Cash for Work (R-CFW) Programme, an initiative aimed at improving the livelihoods of vulnerable Zambians through temporary employment.
The programme is designed to provide short-term employment opportunities to vulnerable residents while simultaneously supporting the development, rehabilitation, and maintenance of community assets. Of the 12,722 beneficiaries targeted for the year 2026, 6,234 are males and 6,488 are females.
Expected benefits include:
Reduction in poverty and hunger at the household level Improved nutrition, health, and education outcomes Strengthened social cohesion and human dignity Promotion of inclusive growth and reduced inequalityThe Chinsali Municipal Council will implement the programme in line with the Chinsali District Integrated Development Plan (IDP), in collaboration with key stakeholders. Under the initiative, participants will contribute labour towards public works in exchange for immediate financial relief.
The local authority is confident that effective implementation of the Revised Cash for Work Programme will expand temporary employment opportunities, enhance food security, and improve sanitation and infrastructure across the district.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The R-CFW Programme is a social protection intervention introduced in response to the national disaster declared following the severe drought during the 2023/2024 farming season.
Following the end of the initial emergency phase, the Government has extended the programme to cover all 116 districts for a period of six months.
