Chinsali District has successfully submitted its delimitation report to the Electoral Commission of Zambia during the Muchinga Provincial Delimitation sitting held at the Civic Center on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
On behalf of the District, Chinsali District Electoral Officer, Mr. Zakeyo Mbao, presented the report outlining the proposal to create a new constituency called Chilinda, which would be added to the district’s existing constituency.
The presentation highlighted the need for improved representation, effective service delivery, and addressing the growing administrative demands.
Notable among the key leaders present for the submission was Muchinga Province Minister, Njavwa Simitowe, Chinsali Mayor, Lucy Mukuka, and other stakeholders from Chinsali who were part of the delegation at the district level and affirmed to the report that was presented.
The Electoral Commission of Zambia Chairperson, Mwangala Zaloumis, received the report, commending Muchinga Province districts for their active participation in the delimitation exercise and for submitting proposals that address community needs.
Mrs. Zaloumis added that the commission will conduct a thorough technical and legal review of all submissions, scrutinizing proposals to ensure they meet constitutional criteria like population size, geography, and effective representation.
