Chinsali Municipal Council made a memorable debut at the 2025 Zambia Local Authorities Sports Association (ZALASA) Annual Tournament in Lusaka held from 28th to 31st October, competing in four sporting disciplines and proudly walking away with a trophy in the pool category.
The five-day tournament, which brought together local authorities from across the country, marked the first-ever participation of Chinsali Municipal Council in the ZALASA tournament since the Council’s establishment.
Chinsali Municipal Council Football Club showed determination and fighting spirit at the Nationalist Stadium.
Despite facing tough opposition from Lusaka City Council Football Club, Chinsali’s players produced moments of brilliance and teamwork that earned them respect. Mathews Zwiindi scored a goal for Chinsali in their 3 – 1 match against Lusaka, and again secured one in the 1 – 1 draw against Chikankata.
Over at the NAPSA Sports Complex, Chinsali’s volleyball team showed consistency and energy in a series of competitive encounters. The highlight came with a 2 – 0 win over Mufulira, where Chinsali’s serves and solid defense dominated play.
In the chess tournament, held at Nakatindi hall, Chinsali registered success, outclassing Chikankata 2–0, thanks to an outstanding performance by Charles Sichembe.
Chinsali’s standout success came in the pool category equally held at Nakatindi hall, where Area Ward Councillor for Chinsali Ward, Chanda Desmond delivered an impressive run of victories against Solwezi, Nakonde, Chingola, Mwansabombwe, Chipata, Livingstone, Chembe, and Kalumbila that saw Chinsali finish with a trophy in recognition of its outstanding performance — a proud milestone for the Council.
The successful participation of Chinsali Municipal Council in the ZALASA tournament was made possible through the dedicated support of the Council’s Management, its strong engagement and good standing, and the valuable contributions of sponsors and community members.
