CHINSALI (12th August, 2025): In a strategic move to strengthen solid waste management services across Chinsali district, Chinsali Municipal Council has procured three skip bins under the 2025 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) at a total cost of K240, 000.
Two skip bins have been stationed at key collection points in Chinsali Central Business District: Green Farmers Refuse Bay and Presidents Park, while the third one will remain mounted on a skip truck to enhance mobility and ensure timely waste collection.
This initiative is aimed at addressing the challenges associated with waste storage prior to disposal, as poor waste management poses significant risks to public health and the environment.
The newly procured and stationed facilities provide centralized and accessible waste storage points, enabling the Local Authority to collect and manage waste more efficiently.
Chinsali Municipal Council urges residents to utilise these facilities for proper waste management, helping to prevent indiscriminate dumping and promoting a cleaner community.
Chinsali Municipal Council also reiterates its ongoing collaboration with private-sector franchise companies to deliver waste management services. Residents and business owners are encouraged to subscribe to these services for regular refuse collection, ensuring a cleaner, healthier Chinsali.
Local Authorities are mandated to manage solid waste within their jurisdictions in line with the Local Government Act. No. 2 of 2019, the Solid Waste Regulations and Management Act No. 20 of 2018, and the Public Health Act Cap 295 of the Laws of Zambia.
